To Hot To Touch

Paris King came to Expression College in the Spring of 2009 for a recording session in Studio Etiquette and Psychology, one of the last classes of the Sound Arts program. His session was conducted over two days each a total of eight hours of recording. The session was overseen by Jack Douglas and ran by my lab group of five people and another lab group of five people. We worked diligently in Studio Two of Expression College. We recorded using a Control 24 and Pro Tools HD with a 192 I/O interface. We utilized every outboard piece of gear in the studio and brought in extra to meet the needs of Paris. Some of the gear we utilized was Chandler Pre-amps and Neve 1076 Pre-amps as well as an LA-2A and other gear such as outboard equalizers and effects. This was the first type of session in which etiquette and how to go about it properly was stressed, it was known about and executed in past sessions but it was highly emphasized in this session. Having the experience to work with Jack Douglas in this session and learn things about the LA-2A and certain techniques he uses was very helpful in building an understanding of overall recording and mixing.
